At Ozzete

Reflection of Ozzete

A canopy of spruce and cedars,
Huckleberry growing out of fallen cedars,
Soft and red with decay.
A forest open to the smells of the sea.

Seaweed and salt
The sense of meeting someone you know.
A slippery path, riveted by streams of rain.
The elegant fronds of deer fern,
A scampering squirrel.

Sounds of waves, squaking seabirds.
The movement of my legs,
Feet sinking into a melting sand,
Decaying seaweed and kelps, bird feathers,
Agate stones, broken crab pincers.

An endless blue of sky and sea,
Islands like a broken dish,
Vast fields of kelp breached by sprays
Of foraging otters.
